[Walking Into Clarksdale]Taking a chance on working with the enigmatic Steve Albini (of In Utero fame), Zeppelin's Page and Plant worked hard at shedding their trademark sound. Unfortunately they pulled it off much to the disappointment of their base judging by the fan reviews. Those looking, however, for Page and Plant to put some distance from less than spectacular solo efforts got it in heavy doses. The album, like many of the Zeppelin opuses, is all about the journey and for that Steve Albini deserves full marks. Cuts likes 'Shining In The Light', the middle-East tinged trip 'Upon a Golden Horse' and 'Please Read The Letter' make this as far removed as Plant and Page could possibly be from their legendary seventies' sound. Think that may have been the plan all along - Jimmy and Robert would most certainly agree.
